Exhibition GD2D+PD3D, Fresh AIR*

GD2D+PD3D, fresh air by PureAustrianDesign is an itinerant exhibition that brings along outstanding samples of contemporary graphic and product design from Austria. The title “fresh air” refers to the breath of fresh inspiration and innovative design that blows from Austria to the world putting Austria on the international map of design.

Based on the fact that both disciplines often merge naturally, illustrations and work from the fields of corporate design, typography, publishing, and promotion were carefully selected and bear witness to the diversity and quality of Austria's graphic creativity. The selection of products instead shows the clear profile of a single category: the chair as Austrian "supreme discipline".

The exhibition architecture comprises 12 transparent inflatable cylinders which toy with the dimensions both disciplines show up with. Graphic design's 2D and product design's 3D melt, as the works are displayed with lots of compressed air in between. The exhibition catalogue comes with 3D glasses for some of the chairs printed on stereoscopic 2D panels. Several stations are on the exhibition's itinerary, including established design galleries or exhibition spaces.
